Popular Enology and Viticulture Journal Moves to Open Access Beginning in 2025

- Category: Press Release
DAVIS, Calif., August 29, 2024…The American Journal of Enology and Viticulture (AJEV), a publication by the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV), will move to full open access (OA) effective January 2025.
ASEV Science Editor Dr. Markus Keller believes this strengthens ASEV’s mission as the platform to disseminate important works and timely information. “Open access offers readers instant access to, and use of, newly-published content, thereby increasing visibility and attracting more total citations for AJEV authors,” said Keller.
Any content published on or after January 1, 2025 will be available to access for free and will have undergone the same rigorous peer review that is the standard for all content submitted to, and published by, AJEV. Manuscripts that are published with this open-access model will be subject to an article processing charge (APC) at the time of acceptance; APC pricing structure will remain very competitive. Please refer to AJEV’s Open Access Publishing page for additional details or contact Raquel Abad, AJEV Managing Editor, at raquel@asev.org.
Formed in 1950 as a professional society dedicated to the interests of enologists, viticulturists, and others in the fields of wine and grape research and production, ASEV’s membership of approximately 1,600 includes professionals from wineries, vineyards, and academic institutions and organizations from around the world. In addition to publishing the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture (AJEV), the Society hosts its National Conference, scheduled for June 16-19, 2025 at the Portola Hotel and Monterey Conference Center in Monterey, California. ASEV co-hosts the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium with the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG), which will be held on January 28-30,2025 at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, California.
