The American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) has renamed its Extension Distinction Award to The Anita Oberholster Award for Extension Excellence, honoring the late Dr. Anita Oberholster and her lasting contributions to the wine and grape industry. A respected professor of cooperative extension at UC Davis, Dr. Oberholster was known for translating complex research into practical tools that growers and winemakers could apply immediately.
Presented annually at the ASEV National Conference, the award highlights the conference’s role as a central forum for sharing applied research, advancing extension practice and strengthening professional relationships across the wine and grape community. The renamed award ensures Dr. Oberholster’s legacy will continue to inspire extension professionals while elevating the importance of extension work within ASEV’s flagship gathering.
