Position Summary:

Phillips Hill Winery is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join us as a Tasting Room Sales and Hospitality Intern. Our winery is located in the premier wine destination of Anderson Valley, known for its world-renowned Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, and other cool-climate varietals. This position’s primary role is to provide our guests with an outstanding and unique wine tasting experience.

Whoever fills this position must be willing to put on “multiple hats”, and be comfortable moving between a variety of different tasks that help the tasting room run smoothly and successfully. We expect you to have enthusiasm for the wine we make, and be willing to learn and passionately teach guests about the beauty and uniqueness of Anderson Valley.

Duties:

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assistance coordinating wine club events and dinners
General wine sales
Signing up new wine club members
Shipping and packaging of wine orders
General tasting room maintenance and support

Qualifications & Requirements:

A strong interest and passion for wine and the winemaking industry
Minimum high school diploma
Over 21 years of age
Ability to lift 40 pounds minimum
Comfortable learning how to use POS software
Excellent speaking and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work as a team, and take direction from others
Customer service experience, or ability to convey strong customer-facing skills

Knowledge about wine, the wine industry, and previous experience in hospitality is preferred, but not required.

Pay rate: Hourly rate will be DOE, and intern will also receive commission, bonuses, and tips
Hours per week: 24-30 hours a week; must be available to work weekends, Fri-Sun
Start date: May 2021 (start and end dates are flexible)
End date December 2021
Duration: 6 months
