Job Description:

We are seeking a graduate student to assist project investigators in (1) estimating the economic impact and feasibility of vineyard nutrient management, (2) extend knowledge to stakeholders, and (3) advance understanding of wine-grower decision making. Duties include literature reviews, data retrieval, cleaning, and management of farm-level survey and longitudinal data sets, conduct analyses using descriptive statistics and econometric models, analysis of results, and preparing technical reports and presentations to summarize the findings. This position is part of the Socio-Environmental Analysis (SEA) Lab of Dr. James Watson in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University.

Basic Qualifications:

The applicant should have a basic knowledge of microeconomics and linear regression models. Knowledge in econometrics and/or machine/deep learning methods a plus, but not required. Applicant should have experience applying methods using Python or R. Good oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of the wine-grape industry, sources of data, and statistical economic analyses. Experience dealing with farm-level data. Able to work independently and as a team. Proven ability to conduct research and publish results.
