An established estate winery in the Great Lakes region, proud of their award-winning wines from their own regional vineyards, is seeking an assistant winemaker to join the team.
The candidate whom we seek should possess the following: BS in chemistry, fermentation science, enology or equivalent field experience. General wine knowledge, appreciation, work ethic and personal interest in commercial wine production is just as important as the above-mentioned degree. Minimum two years experience in wine production. Mechanical knowledge in order to operate modern enology equipment. Chemistry knowledge and lab experience highly desirable. Relevant Microsoft Office software, e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook. Ability to direct cellar activities with motivation and leadership. Take direction, learn new relevant skills, enjoy responsibility and work well with others as a team as well as work independently.
Our new team member will report directly to the Corporate Wine Maker and Manager of Winery Operations, a UC Davis Enology grad. Under his tutelage, you will become acquainted with and take part in all aspects of the operation and production for the estate wineries.
This is a hands-on position that requires the physical responsibilities of a full-fledged winemaking facility. Please consider our cool climate growing conditions in the Great Lakes Region when making your decision to apply.
