ASEV sadly shares the news of the passing of Past President Dr. W. Mark Kliewer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 22, 2025 at the age of 91. Read his obituary and the University of California, Davis tribute.
He served as president from 1982 to1983 for ASEV. His contribution to the industry was considerable and will continue to shape the field for years to come.
Dr. Kliewer will be deeply missed. He inspired generations of researchers and grapegrowers and left behind a legacy that profoundly shaped modern viticulture.
