DAVIS, Calif., July 18, 2024…The American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) confirmed its newly elected board members as of July 1, which will be led by Michelle Moyer from Washington State University as the interim president for the 2024-2025 term.
New board members elected this year include Kristen Barnhisel from J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, Robert Coleman from Treasury Wine Estates, and Elizabeth Tomasino from Oregon State University, Corvallis. In addition, Hans Walter-Peterson from Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York has been appointed as the new technical program director, following Past President Jim Harbertson of Washington State University, Tri-Cities, who served for nine years as the technical program director.
“A big part of ASEV’s success is the people, those who come through our doors to serve others. I want to thank our outgoing directors Hope Goldie from Darioush and Yun Zhang from Ste. Michelle Wine Estates for volunteering their time and expertise. I also want to acknowledge Jim Harbertson who dedicated over a decade to championing the rigorous scientific standards for ASEV. Last but not least, Anita Oberholster who resigned for personal reasons, was a powerhouse who juggled it all. Anita served on our Board for 8 years and was critical in shaping ASEV’s reputation for quality research and high-level science. I am grateful for their service and continued friendship,” said Dan Howard, ASEV executive director.
