ASEV National Conference Focuses on Smoke Taint and Wine Oxidation

With Unified Symposium around the corner, the American Society for Enology and Viticulture is also gearing up for its 68th ASEV National Conference taking place in June in Bellevue, Washington.

The 2017 National Conference will focus on smoke taint due to the recent spate of wildfires that have impacted the vineyards of California and Washington. There will be a keynote presentation by Dr. Mark Krstic of The Australian Wine Research Institute as well as an outreach seminar that will expand on smoke taint from different perspectives including vineyard, winery and sensory.

Additionally, the conference will have a day-long symposium on the new understandings in wine oxidation chemistry. Scientific research studies are continually developing and sharing them amongst colleagues has never been more pertinent and critical as it is today.

The National Conference is a platform for technical exchange that is vital to the wine and grape industry. With high-level scientific research to practical application, the conference is evolving to meet the needs of vineyard and winery employees at multiple levels. It’s designed to go deeper into the research and science affecting the vineyards and wineries with access to different connections and networks.
