Unified Symposium makes Diversity and Gender Equality Sessions Available for Free

SACRAMENTO, Calif., February 18, 2021… Due to the strong interest in diversity and inclusion issues, and the very positive response to the two sessions on the topic at the 2021 Unified Wine and Grape Symposium, the Unified decided to make recordings of the sessions available to view for free.

The two sessions are:

  • Strength in Diversity: Achieving Meaningful Change for Business Success in the Wine Industry, featuring Dorothy Gaiter of Grape Collective, Vinny Eng of SF New Deal, Theresa Heredia of Gary Farrell Winery, Carlton McCoy of Heitz Cellar and Dan Vu of E. & J. Gallo.
  • Herstory: A Lesson in Leadership for the Wine Business, featuring Leticia Chaćon-Rodriguez of UC Davis, Kimberly Charles of Charles Communications, Remi Cohen of Domaine Carneros, Mimi Casteel of Hope Well Wine and Karen Ross, Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

“It’s never been more important to elevate discussions around equity, diversity and inclusion issues,” said Dan Howard, executive director of the American Society for Enology and Viticulture, and a member of the Managing Committee. “For that reason, the Program Committee dedicated two panel sessions to a very deliberate, thoughtful and honest discussion of these topics. And, because we believe the content of those sessions is of essential value to the entire industry, we made the decision to share this information with the entire wine and grape industry for free.”

The full-length sessions are available on the website or by clicking on the links below:

Built with the joint input of growers, vintners and allied industry members, the Unified Symposium serves as a clearinghouse of information important to wine and grape industry professionals. The Unified Symposium also hosts the industry’s largest trade show of its kind, with hundreds of vendors displaying their products and services. The Unified Wine & Grape Symposium’s LLC Managing Committee is comprised of representatives from the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) and the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG). The 2022 Unified Symposium is scheduled for January 25-27 at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, formerly the Sacramento Convention Center.
