WINE & VITICULTURE SENSORY ENOLOGY: Full-time, tenure-track, academic year Assistant/Associate Professor in the Wine and Viticulture Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California.
Preferred start date September 15, 2014. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. A Ph.D. in Enology, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field is required. Some industry experience and college-level teaching would be an advantage. Candidates should have some practical background in wine sensory analysis and wine chemistry, and strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Responsibilities will include teaching introductory and advanced level enology and wine sensory courses, supervision of undergraduate and graduate student research projects, participation on the winery management team, and development and supervision of new sensory and enology laboratories. Duties may also include, but are not limited to student advising, teaching graduate level courses for Master of Professional Studies and/or certificate programs, and international programs. The successful candidate is expected to participate in scholarly activities (i.e., grant-funded research and peer-reviewed publication) as part of his/her professional development. Involvement with the university community, and with local, state and national wine and viticulture organizations is expected. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. International experience and/or the desire to cultivate international links are desirable.
