Napa Valley College is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Viticulture and Winery Technology at Napa Valley College, beginning Fall Semester, August 2015. Appointments are contingent upon Board approval.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under direction of the Vice President of Instruction and the Dean of Career Technical Education (CTE), teach viticulture and winemaking classes; develop and revise curriculum reflecting current industry standards as recommended by industry partners and the Advisory Committee; work collaboratively with staff and other parties to maintain and supervise vineyards and laboratory facilities; act as liaison with the wine industry, advisory committee, and community groups; develop credit and noncredit courses and short-term workshops designed to meet the needs of the wine-related industries; assist the dean in program development and other division tasks; participate in professional development activities; maintain current knowledge in the subject-matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies; work cooperatively with other department members, the dean, and the vice president to develop and maintain quality instruction; perform related duties in the Technical Division, as assigned. Assignment may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, off-campus classes, and online or other technology-supported instruction. All contract and regular faculty are required to adhere to contractual obligations, meet assigned classes, maintain regular office hours, assist and advise students, participate in division activities and appropriate college committees, including regular faculty meetings of the department and division.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education: Earned Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience; OR any Associate degree and six years of professional experience; OR the equivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Experience: Demonstrated teaching or training experience in the field of viticulture and/or winemaking. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desired Professional Competencies: One year of full-time or two years of part-time college teaching experience in viticulture, winemaking, fermentation science, or a related field, preferably at the community college. Demonstrated experience in: developing and revising curriculum; implementing teaching techniques to effectively address the learning needs of students from a variety of cultural, educational and socioeconomic backgrounds; using current information technology in the classroom; and assessing student learning outcomes. Ability to: work collaboratively with others; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Earned Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Viticulture or a related field.

NATURE OF ASSIGNMENT/COMPENSATION
This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to be worked according to the 175-day faculty work year. Initial salary placement is $54,429-$63,280 annually, with future steps to $89,457, subject to final ratification of the Faculty Association and the Board of Trustees in January 2015. Placement on the salary range is commensurate with education and experience.
