Tenure-track Faculty Position in an Area Related to Fermentation Science

Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. The Colleges of Science and Agricultural Sciences seek applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in an area related to fermentation science.  The position will support the newly formed Fermentation Science Institute and the appointment will be at the assistant professor rank.

The position is open to any specialty area related to fermentation science, including but not limited to malting and brewing science, viticulture, enology, distillation science, sensory science, food science, industrial and pharmaceutical fermentation, and/or energy production.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of the Fermentation Science Institute to support and build planned initiatives that include development of new graduate, undergraduate and certificate programs in fermentation science, as well as outreach activities supporting regional industries.  The successful candidate’s home department (joint appointments are possible) will be determined by alignment with the candidate’s area of expertise.  The Colleges offer Ph.D., M.S., B.S. and B.A. degrees in various specializations.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally-funded research program, mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers, and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels (particularly courses concerning fermentation science).

A Ph.D. in a fermentation related field and a strong record of publications are required.  Postdoctoral research experience is desirable.
