Job Description:

The Centinari lab in the Department of Plant Science at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to work on grapevine physiological responses to the biotic stress caused by the spotted lanternfly; Lycorma delicatula. The postdoc will contribute to a funded, collaborative USDA-SCRI grant “Biology, management and reducing the impact of the spotted lanternfly on specialty crops in the eastern USA” and will strictly collaborate with the Rosa lab in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology. In addition to the aims of the grant, the postdoc will have the opportunity to conduct follow-up, novel studies consistent with the overarching project goal. 

The candidate should have a strong background in plant biology and proficiency in using technology for measuring plant physiological parameters in field settings and analysis of plant primary and secondary metabolites. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important. Preferred candidates will have the following strengths: strong interest in inter-disciplinary research with the ability to conduct research independently; ability to conduct field experiments and work in a collaborative and collegial environment; an interest in mentoring students and outreach; and a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Horticulture, Plant Physiology, Ecology or related discipline(s) completed by start date. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Initial funding is available for one year, with renewal contingent on satisfactory performance.
