We’re seeking a full time Junior Specialist with background in agricultural science, horticulture, precision agriculture science, viticulture or other related background to join our research team studying spatio-temporal management of vineyard crop load in California.The team is working on understanding and mitigating vineyard variability, by canopy and soil sensing, transferring meta-data into user-friendly precision maps to balance crop load in wine grape and table grape vineyards. This position will help answer questions posed by some of California Agriculture’s biggest players including state regulatory agencies and private industry organizations.

The successful candidate will participate in field and laboratory analyses of vineyard variability, application of field treatments using newly developed crop load management equipment and assist in collecting data.

A primary focus of the project is in developing innovative methods for progressive viticulturists to manage their vineyards using smart vineyard technologies while fostering economic sustainable yields.

The Jr. Specialist will be instructed in the use of state of the art methods for canopy and soil sensors, crop load management equipment, global positioning systems and a wide range of instrumentation used in field scale viticulture experimentation.

The successful candidate must have an interest in participating as a team member in a multidisciplinary project, and to travel to research sites on sometimes short notice.
