The National Wine and Grape Industry Centre (NWGIC) generates scientific knowledge through research in the fields of viticulture and oenology. The Centre generates outstanding research outcomes thanks to the impressive expertise of researchers, excellent facilities and equipment, and alliance with the NSW Department of Primary Industry, and the New South Wales Wine Industry Association. It collaborates with commercial vineyards and wineries to ensure research is highly relevant and improves profitability and sustainability in the Australian wine industry.

The Director, NWGIC leads the management of research activities, research partnerships, operations, staffing, finances and resources to deliver high quality research to achieve the strategic objectives of the NWGIC. Leading a diverse team including university academic staff, NSW DPI research staff, postdoctoral researchers, higher degree by research students, technical staff and administrative staff, the Director needs to foster a creative and collegiate research environment.

The successful applicant will provide research leadership and strategic direction to the Centre and its members, build motivate and sustain a high quality workforce; and contribute to the direction leadership and management of the University.
